I am in the middle of my 28 day detoxificaiton diet and it's going pretty well.
At first I had such cravings! for pasta, meat, donuts, coffee, cigarettes (!).... Now it's mellowing.
I don't feel different though I notice that (tmi!) I haven't had heartburn at all since I started it and my bowel movements are as productive and regular as Swiss trains.
Plus I am eating incredibly well and healthily. I never, ever eat this much fruit, vegetables, fiber. Incredible amounts of really good food and not that expensive; by not having fast food, junk food, processed food and restaurant food, I am saving a lot of money overall.
There is nothing trendy, deprivation-based or weird about the diet. No starving, no eating pineapple for a week, or only having liquids.
Here is an overview of ye olde detoxe Dyet:

what day are you on?
wth is advaclear?
That's pretty incredible. I wonder if the American diet is so completely backwards or if people just assume it is. And I mean what I eat, which is milk, whole wheat and low fat stuff, all of which are on the negative list. Maybe to wash your system out you need a complete reversal of everything you've been eating your whole life. I don't know. This is interesting. I should try it sometime. Best of luck.
@RizzlGrizzl - I am just about to enter the most intense part, the most limited phase. Advaclear is a 'medical food' which has rice proteins, an large vitamin content, fiber, etc. It's a powder you add to fruit juice or water and take as a supplement to the diet.
@immortalwithout - I don't think they are saying that mile or wheat are bad or whatever, but since the diet aims to cleanse out the gut and give it a break only the most easily breakdown-able foods are in the diet; even when raised chemical-free and organic and eaten by people who aren't allergic or averse to say dairy, meat or gluten, such foods are more work for the system to utilize. But yeah, a lot of Americans' diets are crazy.
But ya know, the proof is in the pudding. If I feel better in a few weeks I will be sold.
Good luck with this!
Crap, I may give this a shot to see if it'll help balance out a few of my irregularities. Let me know how it works for you towards the end.
didn't look at the powder ingredients, but the rest looks pretty good! I did Atkins several years ago - go figure - and haven't had a migraine since! But I've also since become a bit 'anal' about food. I don't eat all the meat, but still love those vegies!!! Just curious, what's wrong with oranges? My preferred dessert is an orange. But I'm weird and will eat a tomato like most people will eat an apple...
Yeah, I want to keep hearing your thoughts. no peanut butter? I eat the kind that is just ground peanuts and salt....
@BoureeMusique - Thanks my beautiful friend!
@toxicned - So far so good. I gotta say, regarding all things bowel and gut, things are really moving.
@travelerblue - I think this might be on the other end of the spectrum from Atkins! I see what you are saying though. The beginning and end stages of this detoxifcation diet are sustainable in that you could eat that way for the rest of your life. (The middle stage is more intense but also sustainable.)
Nothing special about oranges - they aren't bad or anything - but I think it's their high acidity that might make them excluded for the short-term.
@papua2001mk - Peanuts are fine in general it's just that they take more work to break down. Also, many people have a subtle allergy to peanuts, ie there may be some irritation and inflammation caused by peanuts but it might be unrecognized.
This is a lot like the detox diet I did last year. It was really a good experience; I noticed that my breath and sweat had less odor to them after a week or so. Now, of course, detoxing means having one less beer.
sorry, found this after :)Â
