  • frightening image

This was what I saw out my driver's window while waiting at a local stoplight; just one story above and 30 feet away, a giant Marlboro man staring down out at us, the little drivers.

A strange ad for an urban intersection in an area made up of hipsters, African-Americans, 20-somethings, Hispanics.  I'm not sure they are going to get their money's worth.

Because it's so close to the street it's jarring.  The image looms. A crazy billboard

  • I do crazy things, and that's a good and valued thing

I had a really rewarding, heart-warming comment relayed to me.

One of my friend's children, Beatrice, was asking the father how I had met them.  He explained how I had become friends with Matthias when he came to my school, and that Matthias was friends already with him the father, and so we met. "So, if Matthias hadn't gone to that other school, we would never have met Troy." And Beatrice said, "And we would have never seen him do all those crazy things."

hahah  I have no idea what crazy thing she is referring to but it is so sweet.  I guess like making silly noises and reading stories.

    Hearing that made my day.

  • A new week

Last week was rather awful, and I am glad to have gotten through it in one piece.

Feel rather beat up and so it was really nice to go through some fotos from this summer of friends and family and whatnot. Especially encouraging are pictures of little kids that I know and care about and adore.  I guess because they are silly, innocent, fun, grounding, playful.

This little guy is 2 and is such a wonderful burgeoning little buddy. hahaha  When he's not throwing up or throwing fits, he's an absolute delight to be around, with his silly tummy and his laughs and laughs. I will miss him and his older brother greatly (the family has moved for the year).
