  • Quick update. A "Protected List" post to follow.

    • Met a woman. I 'like her like her'! haha This will horrify my little nephew but I really like her and want to kiss her. Am goofy, scared, excited, nervous, giggly.
    • Therapy continues. I'm learning a lot. And that's so good, and expensive, too, in its ways.
    • Really want a dog to hug and joke around with. Must wait on that though.
    • Been shopping at Ikea for furniture, floor lamp, shelf, etc. Will post pictures.
    • Met many new people in past couple of months, mainly through church and my cafe/urban knitting group.
    • Work is steady and good. So thankful for that.
    • I just discovered that I know 3 people fighting in Iraq; I had not known that.

  • Meme randomness

Meme randomness.  I picked this up from fellow blogger Kacie though the answers are mine (the weird numbering is hers lol).  Enjoy and respond

    1. Tell me the absolute best way to watch a movie.
With a fun audience at a big screen cinema.  Or if it’s romantic, intertwined on the couch at home.

    2. Do you ever think about your own funeral? If so, do you have specific ideas about how you would like it to be?
Not unless I am wicked morbid or maudlin.  When I do it I think it’s to envision what people might really feel or think about me, maybe to feel appreciated via being missed?  Anyway, maudlin and self-pitying.

    3. Are you more of a giver or a taker?
Definitely more of a giver (though I’m wicked selfish in my way to be clear).

    4. Vacations: planned activities and schedules, or play it by ear?
Definitely both.  But I don’t have the time or money to just head off to Chiang Mai or Stockholm.

    5. What is one often overlooked item in your home that needs to be cleaned regularly?
    Most dusting I neglect.

    6. Name a cause that means a lot to you.

Ha! I read that the first time as “curse” rather than “cause”.  Two organizations, Pandora’s Aquarium and the Center for Victims of Torture, mean a great deal to me.

    7. Do you eat a regular old peanut butter jelly sandwich, or do you customize it? And by the way, jelly or no jelly?
I don’t like peanut butter with sugar or fake crap in it. But yeah, pretty much regular.

    8. If we were having a conversation in person, how would I know if you were nervous?
You most likely wouldn’t.  But often if I’m nervous, I say that I’m nervous which can help lessen the nervousness.  So then you’d know.

    9. Do you have an elaborate bedtime routine, or just the basics of tooth brushing and jammies?
    The basics.

    10. Have you ever regretted something you wrote on your blog?
Yes, all the time. Everything that was personal I felt bad about, like I’d done something wrong or was going to really get screwed. That feeling then goes away but it does come up at first.

    11. Has anyone ever told you that you look like a famous person or celebrity? Did you agree?
    No.

    12. If you were going to dedicate a song to a loved one or friend, what would the song be and to whom would it be dedicated?
    I have no idea.

    1. What was the last thing you put in your mouth?
    Popcorn.

    2. Where was your profile picture taken?
At my friends’ house.  That’s my little baby buddy Sonja.

    3. Can you play Guitar Hero?
Yes. Guitars so-so, drums ok, singing well.

    4. Name someone who made you laugh today?
No one (though I did politely laugh a few times today).

    5. How late did you stay up last night and why?
    Midnight?

    6. If you could move somewhere else would you move?
Depends on why I was moving, where I was going and who was there.  I’m not lusting to move to a new city or country at the moment, but I can see it happening depending on things.

    7. Ever been kissed under fireworks?
No, unless you count being kissed by a Golden Retriever.

    8. Which of your friends lives closest to you?
Probably Sam, but he only stops by or calls when he wants something.

    9. Do you believe ex's can be friends?
Of course, what, am I twelve years old?  I go way out of my way to be friends and in usually it works.  In some cases however it won’t work because the new spouse/special friend/partner is jealous or insecure.

    10. How do you feel about Dr Pepper?
    It’s fine.

    11. When was the last time you cried really hard?
    Tuesday.  It was awful.

    12. Who took your profile picture?
    I did.

    13. Who was the last person you took a picture of?
A baby boy named “Milo” at a church conference.  I was bored with the speaker and the parents seemed cool with the distraction.  Great little guy (though he destroyed my pen).

    14. Was yesterday better than today?
Yes, was at an IT conference and then went shopping at Ikea.  A long day with tons and tons of activities and distractions.

    15. Can you live a day without TV?
Sure.  And maybe without one period as long as I still get to have high-speed internet.

    16. Are you upset about anything?
    Yes.

    17. Do you think relationships are ever really worth it?
Ok, that’s just stupid.  How can a human survive without relationships?  Unless they mean romantic relationships? In which the case the answer is still yes.

    18. Are you a bad influence?
    No.

    19. Night out or night in?
Depends who I'm out with! Mostly out..

    20. What items could you not go without during the day?
Laptop, cell phone, access cards, keys, car.

    21. Who was the last person you visited in the hospital?
My friend after she was injured on a vacation.

    22. What does the last message in your inbox say?
"QE-Online release REL196468 : Current Status as of Thursday 11/12/2009"

    23. How do you feel about your life right now?
Frustrated.  I need to fight harder and think bigger and stick to it longer.

    24. Do you hate anyone?
    That’s kind of ambiguous.

Am I angry with anyone? Yes, quite a few people, and I should be.  Do I actually hate anyone?  Yes, and that’s unhealthy and wrong but I do nevertheless.  Am I opposed to anyone in a political, group or ideological sense?  Yes, crazy politicians, religious leaders, people from my childhood church who still wreak havoc in others’ lives.

    25. If we were to look in your Facebook inbox, what would we find?
Messages?  LOL  They are all read though and I do usually reply within a day or two.

    26. Say you were given a drug test right now, would you pass?
Sure.  Not a big recreational drug user over here, not even alcohol, which often just makes me tired.  I love tobacco but I stopped smoking when I turned 30.  Coffee I do enjoy.

    27. Has anyone ever called you perfect before?
    No.

    28. What song is stuck in your head?
At the moment, no song is stuck in my head.

    29. Someone knocks on your window at 2 a.m., whom do you want it to be?
Katie, though that would be as weird and surreal as it would be fantastic and unlikely.

    30.Wanna have grandkids before you’re 50?
    That would be very difficult!

    31. Name something you have to do tomorrow?
Lead a 10 o’clock, finish some implementation crap, see how my dad is feeling, attend Paul’s birthday party.

    32. Do you think too much or think too little?
    Too much.

    33. Do you smile a lot?
    An average amount.

    34. Do you like being tagged in notes?
    I actually do, yes.

  • frightening image

This was what I saw out my driver's window while waiting at a local stoplight; just one story above and 30 feet away, a giant Marlboro man staring down out at us, the little drivers.

A strange ad for an urban intersection in an area made up of hipsters, African-Americans, 20-somethings, Hispanics.  I'm not sure they are going to get their money's worth.

Because it's so close to the street it's jarring.  The image looms. A crazy billboard
